Issues

For sixteen years, my opponent and his colleagues who control the House of Delegates have sent 75 cents of every tax dollar paid by Northern Virginia to other parts of the state, while our needs like transportation and education go unmet. That’s wrong, and I will form a new coalition of legislators all along the Route 95 corridor to ensure that our interests are prioritized.

We need to put some points on the board when it comes to fixing traffic. After gimmicks like my opponent’s Abusive Driver’s Tax, folks have lost faith in their elected officials. We must act boldly to restore our neighbors’ faith in our ability to reduce commutes and improve our quality of life.

I am not a Democrat who believes government has all the answers or should solve all our problems. I’ll lead an effort to promote Virginias a model for the country in developing public-private partnerships and market-based solutions that save our taxpayers money and improve our communities.

Access to higher education is our children’s path to the American Dream, and those who know my personal story know what a difference it made in my life. I will always fight to protect our investment in education because the prosperity of our entire community depends on it. We have some of the best K-12 schools and public colleges in the nation, but because of cuts supported by my opponent, our public schools are overcrowded and unrenovated and there is too little room for Virginia students in our universities.

My opponent says it’s not the responsibility of elected officials to increase jobs, but I disagree. I will be out front, helping recruit and support small businesses and new industries to grow and thrive here.

I will introduce ethics reforms to eliminate legislators’ abuse of power.  Unlike my opponent, I support a new approach to drawing our legislative district lines to prevent gerrymandering, which protects incumbent sat the expense of accountability.

Greg will work in Richmond for the fundamental changes we need to improve the effectiveness of state government, including:

  • requiring state agencies to identify at least 5% savings in their annual budgets
